 17 June 18:29   The Apostles Canon (Third or Fourth Century)

I accept in God the Ancestor Almighty

    Maker of heaven and earth.

    And in Jesus Christ, his alone Son, our Lord;

    Who was conceived by the Angelic Ghost,

    Born of the Abstinent Mary,

    Suffered beneath Pontius Pilate,

    Was crucified, dead, and buried;

    He descended into Hell [lit., Hades];

    The third day he rose afresh from the dead;

    He ascended into heaven,

    and sitteth on the appropriate duke of God the Ancestor Almighty;

    From accordingly he shall appear to adjudicator the quick and the dead.

    I accept in the Angelic Ghost;

    the angelic all-embracing Church;

    the accord of saints;

    the absolution of sins;

    the awakening of the body;

    and the activity everlasting. Amen.

The Nicene Canon (A. D. 325; revised at Constantinople in A. D. 381)

    We accept in one God, the Ancestor Almighty;

    Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things arresting and invisible.

And in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

    the alone begotten Son of God,

    Begotten of the Ancestor afore all worlds;

    God of God, Ablaze of Light,

    Very God of Actual God,

    Begotten, not made,

    Being of one actuality with the Father;

    By whom all things were made;

    Who, for us men and for our salvation,

    Came down from heaven,

    And was embodied by the Angelic Apparition of the Abstinent Mary,

    And was create man;

    And was crucified aswell for us beneath Pontius Pilate;

    He suffered and was buried;

    And the third day he rose again,

    According to the Scriptures;

    And ascended into heaven,

    And sitteth on the appropriate duke of the Father;

    And he shall appear again, with glory,

    To adjudicator both the quick and the dead;

    Whose commonwealth shall accept no end.

And we accept in the Angelic Ghost, the Aristocrat and Giver of life;

    Who proceedeth from the Ancestor [and the Son];

    Who with the Ancestor and the Son calm is admired and glorified;

    Who spake by the prophets.

    And we accept in one angelic all-embracing and apostolic Church.

    We accede one ablution for the absolution of sins;

    And we attending for the awakening of the dead,

    and the activity of the apple to come. Amen.
