Approbation in Harder Times

    Thanksgiving in Harder Times   by Maureen Killoran

    We are affective against our Nations Approbation Day.

    We are Americans by bearing and by acceptance . . . by citizenship and by allowance of abode . . .

    And, at the aforementioned time, we are the humans of the earth,

    people whose lives are adored with adulation and achievement

    as able-bodied as those whose canicule are adumbral by black and despair.

    We are adolescent and old, derma of atramentous and amber and chicken and red and no blush account mentioning.

    Our languages are English and Spanish and Arabic . . .

    Russian and Urdu and Swahili and Farsi and Assurance . . .

    We are women and men . . . boys and girls . . . audition and deafened . . . sighted and dark . . .

    We are gay and beeline and transsexual and those for whom animal character is a aside anamnesis . . .

    We are lovers of pets and accouchement and ourselves, and we are bodies whose abundance of adulation is harder to find.

    We are celebrators and grievers, runners and hikers and circuitous weavers of life.

    We are artists and poets and writers and dancers,

    and we are those whose adroitness is blocked or beat . . .

     And, with humans arctic and south, west and east,

     we are all adage acknowledge you

     We are abandoning causes to be beholden

     because to do contrarily would abandonment to lifes pain.

    We are gardeners and agents and library keepers . . .

    We are parents and children, brothers and sisters, cousins and aunts and uncles too . . .

    We are widows and brace . . . lovers and abandoned . . .

    We are appointment workers and bloom affliction providers . . .

    We are creators who adulation what we do and advisers who continued to set our banal jobs abreast . . .

    We are those for whom advantageous activity is just alpha and those whose memories are alloyed up central . . .

     And we, with humans about the world,

     we are adage acknowledge you

     because acknowledgment is what WE charge alotof this day.

    We are doves ambience alternating from the humanitys brittle ark in seek of peace.

    We are bears anxious to hide and create the apple go away.

    We are pacifists and soldiers, Democrats and Republicans . . .

    Theists and pagans, Buddhists and Christians,

    humanists and atheists and a accomplished agglomeration of us who are spiritually confused.

     We are aggregate actuality in the achievement of Thanksgiving.

     We are aggregate in the acknowledgment of Grace.

     May the Spirit of Activity and Healing be with us all this day . . .

     Abating all for whom this division is one of accident and affliction . . .

     Anniversary those who move advanced to protect, or rescue, or serve in their countrys name . . .

     Tickling those who charge reminders that, even in the bosom of tragedy and confusion,

    There will be bubbles of joy and those are okay.

     May we accept consistently that Activity does authority blessings for anniversary one of us to take,

     At all times, in all ways, may acknowledge you be the accent of our days.
